care instructions for crystals:
if crystals on your crystal jewelry need to be cleaned (physically), use a damp cloth & dry them with a dry cloth. some crystals shouldn’t be exposed to water longterm, but cleaning them this way should be ok.
spiritual cleansing & charging of crystals:
although your crystals will be cleansed & charged prior to being packaged & shipped, it’s important to regularly energetically cleanse your crystals, ideally before/after each use. cleansing a crystal, or any other item, means to purify it of any unwanted energy that doesn't belong to it, especially of a negative nature.
since some crystals shouldn’t be exposed to water & others will fade in sunlight, these are the methods i recommend for spiritually cleansing crystals in your collection:
- smoke cleanse with incense or herb bundle
- cleanse with sound
- cleanse with breath
- cleanse with moonlight
- cleanse by tossing in dried cleansing herbs
to charge a crystal or other item is essentially to set an energetic intention of how you'd like to work together. for example, black tourmaline, like all crystals, possesses many lovely healing properties, but if you grabbed your black tourmaline pocket stone today because you desire its protective qualities, it would provide the most benefit to charge it for that purpose. to do so, hold it in your right (or dominant) hand, and focus on an intention in the form of an affirmation, such as: "i am divinely guided and guarded." focus on this intention, imagining in as much detail as you can the way you want to feel, & imagine you're sending that energy right through your arm, into your hand, and into your crystal. now you're really in a partnership with your healing crystal buddy!

care instructions for jewelry:
silk cord jewelry will need to be washed occasionally due to picking up skin oils. It should be hand washed with a mild soap (try to avoid chemicals & dyes) & then towel dried. silk jewelry should be removed before bathing, swimming, sleeping, or exercising. i recommend storing it in the cotton bag that it came in when it isn't being worn.
sandalwood beads, found on some lil shop jewelry, can begin to look or feel dry over time. a natural oil (such as jojoba) will restore their luster. essential oils can be used with sandalwood & can serve as an excellent natural diffuser.
all jewelry is handmade with proven techniques, but sometimes materials fail or we just don’t want to take our jewelry off as recommended before sports etc. no big deal! lil shop of light & love happily repairs jewelry in our lil crystal jewelry clinic. just reach out!

usui reiki a form of energy based healing which was developed through the spiritual work of Dr. Mikao Usui, a japanese buddhist monk who lived in the 19th century. it has since been passed on from reiki master to student, first throughout japan, and then all throughout the world. the word 'reiki' was chosen to represent this system of energy based healing and it is a Japanese word stemming from two separate japanese words (known as kanji characters). 'rei' meaning higher awareness, divine or perhaps the universe and 'ki' meaning energy. this is why we define reiki very loosely as 'universal energy'.
